Why this site, and how it works.
The name is Motif of the Mind. A motif is a small, recurring idea — the atom you build from. State it, turn it over, return to it changed; everything here grows from pieces that small.
I think about it the way I listen to jazz: a few themes and familiar phrases, stated and restated, but the variations never run out — the standards stay, the solo is never the same twice. That is what I mean by knowledge as process — the value is in the takes, not the finished score.
So nothing here is final. Every post carries a status —
draft, working, or stable — and a
last-updated date, so you can tell which takes are still being worked out.
Drafts stay off the Writing list until they’re
ready; revising in public is the point, not an embarrassment.
The room is kept plain so the playing carries: Swiss-typographic, self-hosted Hanken Grotesk, statically built, with no embeds, no trackers, and almost no JavaScript — fast, and meant to stay legible for a long time.
